WHAT IS RESTORATIVE YOGA?
This style of yoga promotes deep relaxation. Supported poses (with the aid of props such as bolsters and blankets) allow for this experience of deep relaxation to occur. In complete relaxation there is no effort and the body and mind are still. Restorative yoga has been reported to aid stress and fatigue, ease back pain, reduce muscle tension and more.
DATES: Sat 28th Jan, Sat 4th Feb & Sat 11th Feb - 2.30-3.30pm.
WHAT TO WEAR: Anything comfortable that allows you to move freely. Maybe some socks in case your toes get chilly and an extra layer (like a zip up hoodie) that you can easily remove if you need too. You don't need to bring anything except maybe a small bottle of water if you want to.
We'll work on a short sequence over the hour with handful of postures (mostly seated and lying down) that we'll stay in for a several minutes at a time. I'd like everyone to come away with a couple of things they can easily do at home too.
COST: Up to you!
Please pay what you choose. All the proceeds will go to cancer charity, Yogabear - a U.S. based, non-profit organisation connecting cancer patients and survivors with free therapeutic and restorative yoga classes.
Oregon-based yoga teacher and writer, Bee Bosnak who I am in touch with on twitter put out a call to teachers across the globe who might like to join her in teaching donation classes. So, by attending you can feel good in the knowledge that you will be supporting a wonderful cause.
